Chad’s stepdaughter heard the gunshots and ran to the room. Seeing what was happening, she told the others to run away. Clayton, Chad’s seven-year-old son, managed to reach the woods before his father caught him, allegedly shot him twice, and then brought his body back to the house.
The stepdaughter and the youngest son, three-year-old Chase, ran out onto the road. Chad Doerman found them there and pointed the rifle at them, but he had no more bullets.
The stepdaughter ran to the nearby fire station. Chase went back to Laura, who tried to shield him.
