ODSP Hidden Benefits

ODSP money depends on where you live and other things that matters. If you own or rent a home, your monthly payment will include two important things:

Basic Needs:

This covers things like clothes, food, and important personal things. How much you get depends on how many people are in your family, their ages, and if your spouse has a disability.

Shelter Allowance:

This helps with your rent or mortgage, utilities, taxes, condo fees, heat, and home insurance. The amount depends on how many people are in your family and how much it costs to keep a roof over your head.

If people get their food and a place to stay from the same person or place, they get money for it, called Board and Lodging payments.

Board and lodging:

You are in this situation if you live with your parents, and they provide your food, or if your landlord takes care of your meals. The amount of money you get depends on how many people are in your family and how old they are.

If you live in Northern Ontario, you can also get some extra money called Remote Communities Allowance, whether you own a home, rent, or are in a board and lodging arrangement.
